Task: Creation of a fictitious company titled "Pro Tech" with Keep Cool as messaging.
Incorporating a technical innovation in the business strategy.
Collaboration: This is a collaborative project involving classes from Web Development, Computer Graphics, and Digital Design sectors.
Leadership: Allocation of project leaders remains of prime importance.
Duration: This task necessitates continuous and diligent work over a period of three weeks.
Primary Objective: The paramount aim of the website under construction is the successful collection of email addresses.
Solution & Process
I was appointed as the project leader and quickly took on the responsibility. We initiated the project with a brainstorming session, ultimately deciding to create technology-based solutions for the equestrian industry. Understanding the target audience of equestrian sports, we opted for a tone that exudes luxury and trust.
Our tech innovation was the product Thermo Weave, a material engineered to optimize temperature regulation—both heating and cooling—ideal for muscle rehabilitation in the form of a blanket for horses.
Drawing inspiration from other websites in the equestrian industry and various tech companies, we decided on a site structure featuring a landing page with block divisions for easy navigation and oversight. Our main focus was on collecting email addresses for newsletters, achieved by offering a 10% discount on the first purchase upon sign-up.
In terms of design, I created the logo, which was freehand drawn in Procreate and later refined in Illustrator. Maria selected the colour palettes and fonts, ensuring they matched the luxurious tone we aimed for. I also developed the sitemap, and once we completed the grey box design, we promptly handed it over to the developers. This allowed us to concentrate on the component system and content, while the web development team worked on coding the site structure and backend functionalities.
Additionally, I collaborated closely with the Computer Graphics team to ensure that all content reflected the luxurious and trustworthy tone we had established.
Conclusion & Insight
Our project earned high marks, with commendations from the teachers suggesting that we appeared launch-ready.
I took my role as project manager very seriously, leveraging my skills to ensure that we met all deadlines. The team exhibited strong cohesion, and we were collectively satisfied with our efforts and achievements.
Areas for improvement:
Forward planning: Enhanced preparation for the product presentation.
Colour palette: Providing a broader range of colours for the CG team to work with.
